Derek Stainer David Mytton, of Boxed Ice, has posted his slides of his presentation at MongoUK. The purpose of the presentation is was to provide various MongoDB health tips.
Here is a summary of the points that David discusses:
- Keep everything in memory - memory is faster (duh!)
- Monitor your disk storage - MongoDB preallocates space
- db.serverStatus() is your friend when it comes to looking at specifics of a particular server
- rs.status() is your friend if you are using replica sets
- mongostat is an extremely useful tool, essentially like top for MongoDB
- db.currentOp() can get you information about the current operation in progress
