Derek Stainer Links of the Day for July 2nd, 2010
- Ask HN: Cassandra, HBase, Hypertable, Voldemort. Lowest read latency? - There's a discussion going on at HackerNews discussing which Key/Value NoSQL datastore has the lowest read latency. Some good comments and questions to consider.
- Goodbye Tokyo Cabinet, hello PostgreSQL? - Another NoSQL attempt bites the dust. In this case it appears it's not really Tokyo Cabinet's fault. To quote Brian Carper, "I switched to TC to begin with because I was using SQL wrong, and it was too slow and clumsy. Once I figured out how to use SQL correctly, it was a no-brainer to go back."
- LinkedIn, Apache Pig, and Open Source - Russell Jurney discusses LinkedIn's usage of Pig at LinkedIn.
