Introducing S4

News of S4, a real time stream processing framework, started to surface last week. Since that time there has been a flurry of activity around the project including the first release of code out into the wild, via GitHub. The folks responsible for S4 have made their first post on the S4 blog, introducing both themselves as well as S4 itself.

Real Time Map/Reduce Coming Soon?

Apparently a real-time Map/Reduce framework codenamed S4 is about to be open sourced by Yahoo. Yes I know, Map/Reduce is a programming paradigm and has nothing to do with NoSQL. Technically you are correct. However, I'm going to make an exception in this case. Why? Because I can. In all seriousness most folks are using Map/Reduce in conjuction with many NoSQL databases so it applies.
